520 _aDynamic mechanical properties are ideal for analysis of multicomponent composites and blends, by comparing the experimental results with predictions based on various models. This parer attempts to apply the kerner model for predicting the dynamic properties of 1,2 polybutadiene (1,2 PBD) - natural rubber (NR) blends. The discrete particle model assumes one of the components of the blends as matrix and the other as dispersed inclusions, whereas the packed grain model assumes neither of the components as matrix but a co-continuous structure of the two. Kerners expression for these two models were considered in the present case. Experimentally determined values of E and tan were compared with the computed data for both discrete particle and polyaggregate models for 70 : 30, 50:50 and 30:70 1,2 PBD : NR blends. The computed data and the experimental values showed good agreemnt for the first two blends whereas for the 30:70 1,2 PBD : NR blend, both the models failed to predict its structure. SEM studies on morphology was used to correlate the results.
