520 _aNatural and synthetic styrene-butadiene rubber of known formulation with and without carbon filler were analysed by pyrolysis. Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy; pyrolysis-gas chromatography/flame ionization detection; and pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry to determine the effect, if any, of the presence of carbon fillers on the pyrolysis behaviour. Carbon black did not affect the qualitative results.
