520 _aResidual proteins on latex medical products are responsible for IgE mediated allergic reactions. Accurate methods for quantifying latex proteins are important for proper product quality control. An important parameter involved in quantifying latex proteins is understanding protein stability in the extraction medium. In this the stability of latex proteins in water and various buffered solutions using the latex ELISA for antigenic protein(LEAP) are examined. The data demonstrate short term stability (1-2 weeks) of latex proteins at room temperature in all solutions tested. Long term stability of latex proteins was found in carbonate buffer (pH 9.6) and acetate buffer (pH 5.5). This study provides additional information regarding the preparation and storage of purified latex protein reference solutions or control extracts.
