520 _aLatex crepe is the purest available form of natural rubber and hence it is particularly suitable for specialized applications where health risk is a problem. Traditional Green Book grading proved unsuitable for such uses and efforts are now underway in Sri Lanka to introduce specifications for Technically Specified Crepe (TSC) forms which will be specific to particular end uses. These TSCs are designed respectively for food and pharmaceutical applications, adhesive applications and dynamic rubber applications which require a low-nitrogen content. These grades are described and discussed. Other forms of rubber which are under development in Sri Linka are also described and the manufacturing methods and potential applications discussed. These forms are general purpose latex crepe, depolymerized rubber (or liquid natural rubber), thermoplastic natural rubber and cyclized rubber.
