520 _aThe efficacy of three weedicides viz., glufosinate ammonium, paraquat and glyphosate and a combination of paraquat and glyphosate was evaluated at the rates of 0.90, 1.80, 3.00 and 3.80 kg a.i. per ha in two different seasons for weed control in a mature rubber plantation in Nigeria. Manual weeding was included as control. Among the treatments, glufosinate ammonium at the lowest dose was the most cost effective. Considering the efficacy of weed control and the cost, glufosinate ammonium at 1.80 kg a.i. per ha also could be rated as effective.
