245 0 _aEffect of Bradyrhizobium inoculation on Mucuna bracteata and its impact on the properties of soil under Hevea
260 _b6th International PGPR Workshop, Calicut, 5-10 October 2003: Abstracts and Short Papers
520 _aMucuna bracteata D C grown as a cover crop in rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) plantations in South India is poor in effective nodulation. When Mucuna seds were inoculated with an effective isolate of Bradyrhizobium prior to sowing, increased plant growth and consequent biomass addition, reduction in the weed population and increased soil microbial population were observed. Improvement in total organic carbon, nitrogen, available phosphorus and potassium in the soil was also resulted consequent to the inoculation.
