| 520 | _aFor extensive waste water treatment, if the concentrated waste volume is reduced, it will be an advantage. Aiming to reduce the concentrated waste volume, a drastic change has been done in the manufacturing procedure. The serum water was recycled in the first milling step instead of using water for controlling possible local heat build up of rollers. This change is assumed to be the worst possible scenario. The produced rubber was compared with rubber manufactured by normal procedure. The comparison was done chemically for selected non-rubber solids remaining, and by visual grading using experienced graders of a leading rubber broker company in Sri Lanka. The data were analyzed statistically and no unfavourable difference was observed in the rubber produced. It must be mentioned that this study is purely a preliminary one and no body should change the normal factory practice until a formal recommendation is made after a proper testing. | ||
