520			_aThe paper discusses the future potential of heveawood in Malaysia in particular in the light of the shrinking forest lands and depletion of other conventional species. As heveawood is produced at zero cost, it is logical economically and socially to concentrate on and maximise the utilisation of this `inexhaustible' and renewable resource. It is also important to educate the local people about the value of rubberwood and the price it can realise in the market internally and externally- internally as a valuable raw material (value to be accrued to the grower) and externally as a product in the export market (value to be accrued to the processor).
