| 520 | _aIn this paper, an attempt is being made to evaluate the benefits of NR and timber production under varying conditions within the specific context of India. The main objectives are to analyse the comparative profitability of : a). different combinations of yield in NR and timber; b). different life cycles of rubber plantations, and c). harvesting timber without tapping. Profitability of timber yield under two major situations, ie., 25 year life cycle with varying degrees of timber yield assuming 20;decline in NR yield and 20 year life cycle with the above conditions are considered. The results of the analysis are indicative of the built in constraints in popularising planting materials with relatively higher timber potential and lower NR yield in the Indian context. | ||
