Development of Advanced Elastomeric Composites: Some Recent Achievements

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: Rubber India 2012Description: 56-58Subject(s): Summary: Rubber nanocomposites are a new class of materials with a great deal of future promise for potential applications as high-performance material. By employing a minimal additional level of nanoparticle <5-10;(by wt.), there is a significant enhancement in mechanical, thermal, dynamical & barrier performance. However, there are many difficulties to disperse the nano particles in the rubber matrix. As for example, carbon nanotube are produced with highly entangled form which is very difficult to disperse in polymer matrix.
