TextPublication details: Proceedings. Conf. Polymat94, Inst. Mat. London 1994Description: 571-577Subject(s): Online resources: Summary: The preparation and characterisation of polymer blends with structured NR-based latex particles are presented. By a semicontinuous emulsion polymerisation process, an NR latex is coated with a shell of crosslinked PMMA or PS. Furthermore, coreshell latices based on NR/crosslinked PS latex semiinterpenetrating network are synthesised in a batch process. These structured particles are incorporated as an impact modifier into a brittle polymer matrix using a W & P twin-screw extruder. The mechanical properties of PS and PMMA blends with a series of prepared latices are investigated.
