Breeding and selection of two scale Hevea clones recommended for large scale cultivation: YITC77-2 and YITC77-4
Material type:
TextPublication details: Proceedings of IRRDB Conference: NR Industry: Responding to Globalization, 7-8 September 2004, Kunming International Convention & Exhibition Center, China. pp.33-37.Subject(s): Summary: YITC77-2 and YITC77-4 are two cold-firm and high-yielding Hevea clones resulted from isolated pollination of GT1 and PR107. Five years cold resistance trial shown the damage degree of YITC77-2, YITC77-4 and GT 1 are 0.92, 0.51 and 1.44, respectively. Both of the two clones are more tolerant to cold that GT1. Four years; average yields of YITC77-2 and YITC77-4 in small-scale clone trial were 1.88 and 2.09 kg/tree/year which were 131.5;and 146.2;of the control GT1. Eleven years average yields of the two clones in large-scale clone trials were 1932 kg/ha/year and 1834 kg/ha/year, which are 1144.3;and 136.9;of GT1. The timber production of YITC77-2, YITC77-4 and GT 1 of the 18 years old trees are 0.66, 0.44 and 0.27 m3/tree, respectively. YITC77-2 and YITC77-4 have been recommended for large-scale cultivation in Southwest Yunnan since 2002.
