Effect of new tapping system on properties of natural rubber latex

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: Proceedings of IRRDB Symposium 1999, Hainan, Peoples Republic of China. pp.404-412.Subject(s): Summary: The results showed that: (1) The total solid content (TS), dry rubber content (DRC), mechanical stability time (MST) and total carbohydrate content (TG) of fresh latex obtained by new tapping system are all lower than those of the control, whereas the free calcium and magnesium content (Ca2+ Mg2+), volatile fatty acid number (VFAN0), sediment volume, conductivity and diameter of rubber particles in the fresh latex obtained by new tapping system are all higher than those of the control : (2) The TS, DRC, NH3 and VFAN0 change slightly for latex concentrates obtained by both new and old tapping systems during a storage period of the three months, but for latex concentrate obtained by new tapping system, the average values of MST at 30d and 90d of normal storage are all lower than those obtained by old tapping system. When 0.06;potassium laurate is added into the latex concentrate obtained by new and old tapping system, the MST can reach a value above 650s in 60d.
