These include black stripe, abnormal leaf fall, stem canker and basal stem rot and dieback. These Phytophthora diseases and their control measures are described in this paper as well as the morphological characters and the pathological importance of five species, namely P. citrophthora, P. capsici, P. meadii, P. parasitica and P. palmivora.
