Biodiversity of tropic rubber plantations and their service function in maintaining soil fertility in Hainan Island

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: Proceedings of IRRDB Conference: NR Industry: Responding to Globalization, 7-8 September 2004, Kunming International Convention & Exhibition Center, China. pp.201-206.Subject(s): Summary: The values of biodiversity ecological service function in maintaining soil fertility were evaluated through establishing the models of rubber forests age and biodiversity index, biodiversity index and soil fertility. A new approach of its ecological service function was studied. The evaluated results showed that the total value of rubber forest biodiversity in maintaining soil nutrition in Hainan Island was 1.189 x 10 6 Yuan per year, the mean value was 2.6812 X 10 4 Yuan hm-2 . a-1 and the total value of its biodiversity in maintaining soil fertility was 8.0436 X 10 5 Yuan per hectare during the life cycle of rubber forest.
