Extraction of quebrachitol from natural rubber

This method adopted the common chemical engineering techniques as coagulation, concentration and purification of latex skim, then extraction of quebrachitol from inositol derivatives using the chemical resolution method. It was found that the extraction rate of this method approached about 0.2;- 0.3;the mass of latex skim. The purity of the products extracted reached over 97;. The formula weight (CE), melting point and specific rotation are FW (CE) 195, mp 191 C and [a] 29D-80.3 respectively.Conclusion: This method can be used for commercial production of quebrachitol.
