Review and outlook on natural rubber processing in China
Material type:
TextPublication details: Proceedings of IRRDB Symposium 1999, Hainan, Peoples Republic of China. pp.34-40.Subject(s): Summary: The Chinese research workers have successfully planted the rubber trees in the vast areas of 18 degree - 25 degree N soon after the foundation of the Peoples Republic of China. This is an important technical breakthrough in planting rubber trees northward and has broken the inference that rubber trees can not be planted in the areas northward from 15degree N and userhered a new prospect on the rubber trees plantation in the world. Up to now, the plantation areas for rubber trees in China have reached to 650000 hectares, with a dry rubber output of 457000 tons annually, which makes China occupy the fourth and fifth places among the 48 rubber tree plantation countries in the world. With the rapid development of rubber tree plantation, the natural rubber (NR) processing trade has been developed in succession. During 40 years of NR processing, we not only achieved the remarkable success, but also gained certain experiences and lessons. In this paper, the course of NR processing was reviewed in broad outline and the future development was also respected.
