Heritability, genetic variability and genetic gain for yield and morphologic characteristics in young progenies of rubber trees

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: Pesquisa Agropecuaria Brasileira 1995Description: 673-681Subject(s): Online resources: Summary: Inheritance for yield and morphologic characteristics was estimated in 3-year-old progenies of rubber (Hevea) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Twenty-two half-sib progenies of rubber were planted. the charecteristics studied were : yield, girth, leaf petiole length, leaf petiole diameter, leaf petiole index, main venation length, main venation diameter, foliar width and leaf area. The heritability and genetic gain for these characteristics were estimated. Significant differences for most of the charecteristics were observed. The individual heritability estimates were higher for girth, main venation length and yield, with values of 0.47, 0.45 and 0.35, respectively. The genetic genetic gain estimates among and within the progenies gave values of 49.09;, 21.44;and 18.42;for yield, leaf area and girth, respectively.
