Preservation of rubberwood
Material type:
TextPublication details: Rubberwood Processing and Utilization, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 1994; p85-103 1994Subject(s): Summary: Prophylatic treatment of rubber wood using combinations of 2;captafol in shellkote-3 and 1;Fennotox S2 (Thiophanates, thiocarbamates and sodium nitrate) in shellkote-3 or captafol and NaPCP (Sodium Pentachloro Phenate) is found to be effective. Diffusion treatment using different insecticides and fungicides in different combinations and concentrations is very effective for the temporary preservation. For long term preservation, very effective and efficient preservative treatment and standard seasoning process is very essential. In this paper the details of diffusion treatment, vacuum pressure treatment (for long term preservation) and oscillatory pressure method(OPM) etc are presented. The standard procedure for the qualitative estimation of preservatives in treated rubber wood is also discussed in detail. The procedure for the qualitative estimation of Boron treated rubber wood and CCA treated rubber wood is also explained in detail.
