Nitrile reductase activity at different stages of development of rubber (Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg) seedlings.

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: Revista Brasileira de Botannica 1995Description: 133-136Subject(s): Online resources: Summary: Nitrate reductase activity (NRA) was measured in rubber (clone FX 2261) seeds and in seedlings grown in a sand : vermiculite mix without a supply of nitrate. NRA was present in seeds and in roots, stems and leaves at all stages of seedling development. NRA was highest in roots when the leaves were fully expanded but physiologically immature, whereas NRA activity was highest in leaves when these were fully expanded and physiologically mature. Leaf NRA was positively correlated with chlorophyll levels.
