At the end of the selection process, the breeder is often confronted with the necessity of discarding some high yielding clones because of their sensitivity to wind damage. This paper presents a recall of previous research and ideas on this subject with a number of observations made on rubber trees in Cote dIvoire together with a review of some studies carried out on wind and forests (mainly conifers) in temperate arreas. In so doing, it is hoped these will help to develop further multidisciplinary researches so as to improve the prediction and prevention of risks in rubber trees ER -
