It has gestation period around 7 years. The agro-management practices of this tree crop during the immature period aims at reduction of gestation period good growth, better yield and reduction of cost maintenance. The main field upkeep practices to be followed in the immature rubber plantations are weed management, disease management and nutritional management. The other vital operation like mulching, gap filling, establishment of cover crop, soil & water conservation measures white washing etc. have to be followed in proper time. All this practices are supplementary to each other to provide growth of the plants, to ensure sustained yield and productivity during the yielding phase. The north eastern region being a nontraditional area of this crop with its peculiar conditions, appropriate location specific management practices has to be developed and adopted.
