N2  - Natural rubber latex gloves have been identified as a source of protein allergens. Much of the current information suggests that soluble proteins in latex cause significant reactions in sensitized individuals. In addition to readily soluble proteins, insoluble proteins exist within the latex. This deacribe a technique (latex-protein dot bolt) by which to test for the presence of latex proteins directly bound to the surface of gloves. Data obtained using this technique demonstrate considerable variability between gloves with respect to the amount of insoluble latex proteins bound to their surface
