Black stripe can be controlled by regular application of a water miscible fungicide, captafol, after each tapping during the rainy season. Since 1988, this product has been prohibited and it was now necessary to find other fungicides to replace captafol. The screening of new fungicides against this fungus by artificial inoculation has demonstrated the high efficiency of Captane, Cymoxanil + Folpet (Anteor), Fosetyl-Al + Folpet (Mikal), Metalaxyl + Folpet (Ridomil combi) and Oxadixyl (Sandofan paste). Results of experiments carried out under natural conditions for three years have confirmed the efficiency of these products and hence these can now be recommended for use against black stripe ER -
