N2  - The different wood-based industries in Kerala are packing cases, splints and veneers, pulp and paper, furniture and fixtures, wooden industrial goods, handicrafts, etc, where wood is the important input and is transformed to products of utility. Rubber wood is becoming popular in the context of a diminishing supply of conventional timber and a substantial quantity is used by industries such as packing cases, plywood, etc. A study has been conducted to estimate the wood consumption by the industrial sector in Kerala. In this paper, the industrial wood-use pattern and the contribution of rubber wood to total industrial wood consumption is presented and discussed
