Arg wood: A Preliminary study bForest Products Research and Development Journalc1988 a1-Jun aA proximate analysis of the chemical composition of the wood of a 25-year old para rubber considered the following variables: alcohol benzene extractives, ash, hot water extractives, lignin, holocellulose, 1;caustic soda solubles, pentosan and starch. Results of the analysis showed that the values of extractives, ash, 1;caustic soda solubles, pentosan and starch decreased from the butt to the top positions of the tree, but values for holocellulose and lignin increased. Differences in alcohol benzene extractives, ash, holocellulose, hot water extractives and pentosan contents from the top, middle and butt portions were found insignificant. On the other hand, variations in lignin content were observed significant at 5;level, while those of 1;caustic soda solubles and starch were found highly significant. The findings may be used as bases in determining the end uses of para rubber. aRubberwood aDionglay M S aGarcia C A cBO c47988d47988 00104077aMAINbMAINd2021-12-31hVolume 17, Issue 04-Janl0r2021-12-31 00:00:00w2022-02-16yBO
