Identification and pathogenicity test of the fungi from the bark with patch canker of rubber trees

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: Proceedings of IRRDB Symposium 1999, Hainan, Peoples Republic of China. pp.298-303.Subject(s): Summary: A total of 7 isolates of Pythium were obtained from the barks of the roots and trunks of rubber trees (clone RRIM600) with symptoms similar to patch canker. Based on their morphological characteristics and cardinal temperatures, these isolates were identified as Pythium vexans de Bary. Inoculating all these isolates onto the mature rubber trees resulted in the symptoms similar to the ones on the barks where the isolates were obtained, and the same fungi as the ones used for inoculation were isolated from the resultant diseased tissues of inoculation.
