Efficacy of slow-release fertilizer on the performance of seedlings of Hevea brasiliensis

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextPublication details: IRRDB Symposium on Natural Rubber(Hevea brasiliensis) V.1- General, Soils and Fertilization and Breeding and Selection Sessions. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 14-15 October 1997,p54-61Subject(s): Summary: This 15N isotope study was set up to study the effect of slow-release fertilizers on the performance of rubber seedlings and their effectiveness in nutrient uptake by rubber seedlings. The five fertilizers evaluated were four slow-release fertilizers, viz: Agroblen, Best Tab, Kokei Nugget and Nurseryace, and one conventional chemical fertilizer, viz: Nitrophoska Yellow. The evaluation of experimental results at 180 days after planting showed that Best Tab is the best slow-release fertilizer. Best Tab gave the highest values of diameter, height, dry weight, total uptake of N, P, K and Mg, fertilizer nitrogen yield, and fertilizer utilization efficiency. Meanwhile, Nitrophoska Yellow gave the lowest values of fertilizer nitrogen yield and fertilizer utilization efficiency as well as total nutrient uptake.
