Cost effective rubber effluent treatment method
Material type:
TextPublication details: Papers presented at IRRDB seminar 5-8 November 1996 Sri Lanka p40Subject(s): Summary: The treatment technique based on anaerobic coupled with aerobic digestion process developed by the RRI to treat the rubber factory effluent discharged by the raw rubber processing was experimented at pilot plant level and are now at commercial plant level successfully. This technique has already proven its virsaturity as a very efficient and cost effective treatment method developed so far. The treatment system consists of anaerobic stage, aerobic stage, denitrification, clarification and filteration stages. The anaerobic process is a high rate digester packed with a locally available material. BOD removal efficiencies from the anaerobic stage at most times achieve more than 90;, which leave very low loading rates for aerobic digestion. This would result in lowering the requirement for aerobic digestion.
