Summary, etc Rubberwood has traditionally been used as a source of thermal energy and is still regarded as a cheap source of firewood by the rural population. At present Rubberwood is used as a raw material for the pulp and paper industry, as cores for blockboards, and in the manufacture of furniture both for the domestic and overseas markets. A substantial quantity of the logs and sawn timber are exported for furniture making, panelling, parquet flooring, novelty and household items. Rubberwood can also be used for the manufacture of particleboards, fibre boards, glue-laminated products, parquetry and strip-flooring.
