Simulation of burst test for all-steel pneumatic truck tire

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Kautschuk Gummi Kunststoffe 2013Description: 47-51Subject(s): Summary: The possibility of applying the technique of overlaying orthotropic reinforcement elements, described with Halpin-Tsai equations, on isotropic rubber elements for simulation of a burst test for an all- steel truck tire was examined. The results of a simulation when treating rubber as an incompressible and nearly incompressible material and when taking into account and abandoning analysis of tyre contact with the rim are also presented. The proposed technique provides a stable computational model and ensures convergent solutions for high tyre inflation pressures. The application of a displacement finite element method (FEM) formulation with a Blatz-Ko rubber model proved more suitable in the case of fixing of tire beads to the wheel rim.
