Characterisation of latex of NIG 800 clonal series
Material type:
TextPublication details: Nigerian Journal of Applied Sciences 2001Description: 65-68Subject(s): Summary: Natural rubber latices (NRL) from the fourteen Hevea clones (NIG 800 series) developed by the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria (RRIN) were characterised. The latex from each of the clones was collected over a period of eight months using 1/2 Spiral day 2 (1/2 S d/2) tapping method without stimulation and preserved with 0.4;ammonia solution (5;v/v). Prpperties investigated were total solid content, dry rubber content, mechanical stability time, nitrogen content, and volatile fatty acid. There is a clonal variation in some properties of the latices and are compared with some well-established commercial clones. The results obtained are discussed in relationship to practical application of the lattices.
