Preliminary studies on preparation of lubricating greases from bleached rubber seed oil

By: Contributor(s): Material type: TextTextSubject(s): Summary: Rubber seed oil was extracted from seeds of three clones (Tjir 1, RRIM 501 and RRIM 601).Rubber seed oil was extracted using petroleum ether (40-60o C) from fresh seeds. Physical and chemical characteristics of bleached oil were determined. Lubricating greases were prepared from the oils. It is observed that the texture and colour of the greases were comparable. Storage period had a marked effect on the texture of the grease produced.
